Byrd Family Endowed - The Byrd Family Endowed scholarship was established by Mark Byrd, owner of Byrd and Company, to honor his wife, Amy Byrd, for the genuine love and devotion she espressed towards the children she taught as a special education and kindergarten teacher in the Houston County School System, and her commitment to her family as a wife and mother. The scholarship also honors Mr. Byrd's mother, Betty Byrd, for her contributions to her family and community as a registered nurse, active member of Centerville First United Methodist Church, Master Gardener, wife and mother. The scholarship will be awarded annually to a Macon State College student with demonstrated financial need, who graduated from a Houston County High School within the past ten years and is pursuing a degree in education or nursing.
